Torrelodones in Spain - Flying Faeces!

We thank BBC News for giving us this gem of information!

To quote the BBC:

Torrelodones, a municipality just outside the capital Madrid, is 2,400 euros ($2,726; £1,885) out of pocket after the three-metre high inflatable bought as part of a campaign to encourage pet-lovers to pick up after their dogs went missing, El Pais newspaper reports. The bizarre inflatable disappeared after it had been packed away in its carry-case and the police are now on the trail of the 30 kilogramme dog poop, town officials say.
Speaking to the ABC newspaper, town councillor Angel Guirao said staff were shocked and perplexed by the theft, and a replacement excrement was already on order because "we know that the campaign has been a great success".

I think the local authority missed a trick here. Why pay for a replacement? Why not just scour the streets of the UK. The UK's streets have much to offer by way of replacement excrement. Come on, Spain, get it before you need a visa!

Nauseous on the North Coast!

Many thanks are due to our two most recently recruited South West Operatives, "A" and "B", for this tremendous contribution!

St Agnes in Cornwall has featured on this blog many times but it seems that, from an excrement perspective, it just flows and flows! This truly magnificent example was detected on the North Cliffs of St Agnes. I am impressed with the care taken to capture the relevant items from three different perspectives to give the reader a fuller picture regarding location and context.

It's all been said about St Agnes village, now we can confidently report that the cliffs have come out in sympathy as well. We are lucky that this isn't near the edge. Slip sliding off the cliff would not be funny!

Long may the open spaces heave!

Slip Sliding in St Agnes!

Don't look too deeply into the grass - Cornish Coast
Thanks to the BBC for this picture

St Agnes has featured on this blog before. Just along the coast from St Agnes lies the village of Perranporth. Both are idyllic, Cornish coastal villages. Both are absolutely heaving!

As the BBC website advises us:

A man who refused to clean up his dog's mess on a beach has been ordered to pay almost £2,000.
Kevin Watch, 68, failed to clear up after his dog at Perranporth on the north coast of Cornwall and refused to pick up the mess when challenged.
He also refused to give his name and address, but the dog warden who witnessed the offence tracked him down.
Truro Magistrates ordered him to pay an £800 fine with £1,000 costs and an £80 victim surcharge.

'Blighted'

Cornwall Council, which brought the prosecution, said the case "sent a clear message" to dog owners.
When the council learned the man's identity, he was issued with an £80 fixed penalty notice which was not paid and the matter went to court.
Watch, of Hendrawna Lane, Bolingey, pleaded not guilty to one count of being in charge of a dog and failing to remove faeces.
Following the case, heard on Wednesday, Allan Hampshire, head of public protection at Cornwall Council, said dog fouling "blighted" lives of residents.
He said: "This fine sends a clear message to the small minority of irresponsible dog owners that if you don't clear up after you dog, the courts will fine you accordingly."

We thank the BBC for this report but we might have to take issue with the observation regarding the minority of irresponsible dog owners.

I have just been to St Agnes for a mere 4 days. Below you will see pictorial evidence of what I found the length and breadth of the village:

Slip slidin' away

Slip slidin' away

You know the nearer your destination

The more you're slip slidin' away

I know a man

He came from my home town

He wore his passion for his woman

Like a thorny crown

He said Delores, I live in fear

The words to "Slip Slidin' Away" ring in my head. I went to my home town and I certainly had plenty of fear but not of unrequited love but rather the state of my shoes!

I urge you to visit these villages, enjoy the tranquillity but be careful where you lie!
